My stint at the childcare centre ends... I'm not going to state names here...
One thing for sure, I'm going to miss all the children, from toddlers to K2.. Even the staff there.. my journey of ups and downs, all the tears and laughter i have shared with them, the hugs they willingly give me, their smiles, their individual personalities and our unique ways of connecting with the children, especially the multiple nationalities child, the pose of praying while sleeping, the two dimples child, the more active ones in N2, the three brothers.. the most active toddler... and 2 brothers who fell asleep inmediately after lying on the mattress. and his usual sleeping pose of lying on your back cross-legged. the older brother.
I find that interesting things happen in a childcare centre everyday. Usually, its the children who entertain us, not the opposite. I find the staff being soo busy until they go down with flu, coughs, fever and other illnesses. (Believe me, i know, since i have been there and done that.) I gotta applaud to them. Not only that, they had to deal with upcoming events, held especially at the end of the year. but they thrived on to finish all. Their passion for kids is their drive to go to work everyday. Kudos to them.
At the beginning of my stint, I remembered that i was exhausted. Ard 4 pm, i tried to keep awake. i did everything, from washing my face, to massaging my eyebrow area to keep awake. Alas, it was futile. So needless to say, during their tv sessions before coming home, i napped. I think the children knew that, because K2 kids were staring at me curiously. This went on and continued when Lily completed 4 days attachment. Ah... that was the best part during the attachment. At least i got a friend to chat with, and go to Causeway Point together. We normally chat about the center, the kids during the bus 695 journey. I remembered dragging our feet to Macdonalds, and eating dinner there. After that, we shopped. It strengthened our friendship more. The thought of us going to the library and going to class caused some really funny incidents. Incidents caused by fatigue. Only Allah and Lily know how they went. I would love for times like these to happen often. Unfortunately our schedules always crash.
2 bad things happened during my stint. First, the incident where a grp of naughty children secretly slipped an self explosive mini bag. We were just chatting and I falling asleep, until the bag exploded itself. A boy cried, and laughter were heard outside. All the teachers pitied the boy, coz he was sleeping at the window until he was given a rude shock. I wldn't be surprised that he develops a phobia. Both Lily and I were soooo angry at the pranksters. We closed all the windows, and somebosy said that it can happen again. True enuf, it did. This time round, the pranksters ran along the windows knocking. But they were caught by one of the staff.
Then I was tasked with conducting a storytelling session that didn't go well... I admit, the book I chose is an inappropriate book. I tried to make my voice and the tone authoritive, and I did manage to finetune on that. I did take over the class, and I gave them free expression session. Asking the children what they drew is 1 way to get closer to them We don't need to figure out what the drawings meant. We just asked them. Later, the teachers asked me to watch over their class for a moment, while they went to take water, go toilet, whatsoever. At the mid of second week, I became busy doing my learning center. The center that i chose is a Camping center. It took me time to do the campfire, the pond and the background.
Also, I toyed with many ideas to do for my lesson practicum. At first i wanted to do storytelling, then switched to art and craft, again with different ideas. I did the lesson plan last minute. Gosh.. I regretted that. How I wished that i conducted a lesson proper, but Nan proceeded to the learning center and i had to go with her. I think a kid was pissed off at me for leaving the lesson hanging in the air. Another kid that I really liked, sulked when he was not included in the lesson that I conducted. To him, I was showing favoritism. When actually I wasn't. The reason was that he was an active kid. Enuf said. They all brightened up when I bought metallic pencil cases for them. I bought 3 different kinds, and i wanted them to make choices.
Yesterday was the last day for me. I managed to keep my promise. Going all the way to Bugis to buy a royal cake chocolate truffle. Yum... I didn't know that going to Tampines was a better option than Bugis. I didn't know and I didn't ask the staff for info. It also happened that K2 graduation event was held on the same day. I get to eat Delicious banana muffin... yum... can't forget the taste. I brought out the cake last minute... they enjoyed it v much....
Yuppzz... that's it... ^^

in out, in out.... 15 Nov 06
Children. My motto for them: adorable devils. They are adorable, but some of them being devils, they can really stretch your limit. The smiles on their faces, their comments, and their sadness are all shared among us along the way. Gosh. Not to mention their endless complaints. Gosh. Should I say more? Maybe not.
Meanwhile, I’m 3 more days to Sat, the final day of my practicum. I will certainly miss all the staff, who are wonderful, who make my practicum stint much more livelier and interesting... To the class N2A, Inshirah’s class, who are quite mischievous and funny, I will never forget them. I will add more, but now, I gotta concentrate on the things to do for my practicum….

reflections... or rather, ramblings. 23 Oct 06
gosh... its been a while since i updated my blog here...
Tml is Syawal, the first day where we thriumph over the obstacles, and it also marked the end of the wonderful fasting month. hmm... i stayed up will 3.30 am in morning just to pray. I firmly believe that 3 - 4 am is the best hour of the night, where all your prayers will be answered. Whats more during the fasting month... ^^
Come to think of it, there is still 1 month more before my cert course officially ends. All those people whom i got close to, the rides home (its free... wakaka... ^^) , the ongoing lessons where we have to read the contents out aloud, birthday parties, the chipping in of $$ for birthday presents or the makan sessions.. whatever we took for granted will finally end. The first class that nan got close to us.. the joys and laughter. School time is the best, no matter whether it is full-time or part-time. yea.. Now I am looking forward to our Hari Raya gatherings. We have not planned any yet, but i'm sure they will do sumthing about it.
And at the snap of a finger, 2006 will end. It is a good year for us.
I am looking forward to the Dec. I desperately want to go on a holiday. If i got a friend, I grab tt person and go jalan2. Working with little breaks in between makes my soul heavy with the burden. What burden? burden = working. lol.
I still haven't fulfilled my other desire. Going to Korea. Seriously, I mean it. If i have a chance to go and study there, i will grab the chance.
Learning Korean language; been there and done that.
Planning to go to Korea on Dec 2007. Must start planning how to save...

went to changi airport to meet LUG in person!! 12 Sept 06
Yesterday was the most memorable.
Last night I went to Changi Airport to see off LUG. I went there early, and went into Mini Toons to buy a gift card.
I bought it, and went to Polar Cakes to eat my dinner. (Consisted of 2 black pepper croissants, and grass jelly soy drink.) Basically I spent the remaining of my $$ at that moment.)
I sat down, and a feeling of Déjà vu overwhelmed me. I felt as if I had been there. Flashes of my dream crossed my mind. Then I realized that I had dreamed of this before. Louisa had phoned me before and asked me to watch out for LUG. I spent the time waiting and drafting a short inspiring letter to LUG. She thought that I would wait for Shinhwa only, while she intended to wait for their guest performer LUG. They arrived at the departure hall around 7 plus… They told me that they bought necklaces for everyone except for Ugi, and Louisa bought him a bracelet instead. Me? Having made a mistake on the gift card, Louisa’s sister gave me a postcard for me to write instead.
Frankly speaking, I rather wait for LUG, as the chances of meeting them are higher. We waited for a while. Louisa and others had decided to wait and sing their songs, as it would attract their attention. They prepared the mini speaker, and attached their mp3 to it.
They played the songs, and practiced for a while. Louisa’s sister and her friend went to check whether LUG had arrived or not.
10 mins later, they phoned Louisa, telling her that LUG had arrived. The rest got excited.
I told myself, “ The drama begins…”
They ran over to the counters, where we bumped into the rest.
“They are coming! They are coming! We gotta wait here!!” they whispered.
Soon after, LUG appeared. Our group literally screamed. I got ready my camera and caught them on camera. All of us grabbed the chance to go up to them and present them their presents. Louisa gave Ugi his bracelet, and he accepted them with a grateful bow. She was happy and returned the bow.
I waited for him, and just stood him in front of him smiling, waiting for my turn. He was surprised and really happy to see me. He literally smiled and accepted my postcard, again ending his greeting with a more enthusiastic bow. But I just stood there with a shocked face, blinking twice. I never really expected him to bow to me, and looking at his reaction, my brain was unable to register for a few moments.
(I also felt my postcard was nothing compared to other gifts, as they bought each member a necklace, and Ugi, a bracelet. They were better compared to mine.)
I just stared at him, and he continued looking at me for a few minutes, trying to restrain his laughter. I came out of the daze and did a small bow. I imitated a camera, asking him if we could take a picture. He said something in Korean, and Louisa understood him. He turned to his manager, who was standing in front of us.
“I’m sorry, but he can’t” he spoke to us smilingly, and his hand gently nudged us away. I saw his face a bit red and I understood at that time that he saw the whole incident.
We got the message and I turned to Louisa, returning back to our spot.
“Huh? What did he say?” I asked her.
“He said that I can’t” she translated to me. She repeated a Korean word and translated it into English... I just went oh…
We waited at our spot and the rest returned to us. They tuned up the mobile loudspeaker, and went “da… da… da..” to the music. They played LUG’s songs, and began singing along. Me? I just swayed to the music but never sing along… haha.. I unfortunately don’t have their album so I don’t have the time to memorize the lyrics.
Other people came behind the barrier and took pictures of them. Excited screams rang out when one of the members glanced at us. (I’m not going to mention who screamed continuously here though.) They disappeared behind the pillar, and continued registering at the counter. The person, whom I gave the postcard to, glanced in our direction twice and I just continued shooting the video. His friends did the same.
Their cameraman took a video of us continuously… We just ignored him and continued singing. I also took a video of him... haha… It was a bad mistake here… The moment they turned towards us, my camera died on me.
To be continued…

BBq event on 30 Aug 06
Last night I went to sleep quite late.
Had a sudden meet up arrangement with my friend, Intan, and went to Bugis to shop for 2 birthday presents.
There’s a bbq event tml night, and today happens to be one of the girls’ birthday. Her name is Hajjar. The other girl is Helen, who organized the bbq party tomorrow night.
I am looking forward to the bbq event. It’s been a long time since I meet up with them. They are my good friends, even though it’s a long time since we had a gathering. (It’s like 2 or 3 times in a year?) I keep in touch with Intan, but we do go out occasionally. I have accepted the fact that u can’t expect everyone to stay and belong in a group. You got to move on.
Obstacles come and go, but still friendship ties are there. I hope I can reach there before the rest go home…
Anyway, I feel blessed for having the chance to meet them, my ITE friends, my FLTC friends. They are the best ppl u can eva haf.
